"I was prepared to be disappointed when I received these (only because I have ordered no less than 3 pairs of tall black boots and had to return every one of them). Much to my surprise, these boots are EVERYTHING I hoped they would be. First, these boots are of phenomenal quality. As someone who prefers high end footwear, I can honestly say that if I didn't know otherwise I would think these were by a higher end designer. They are an incredibly chic boot, speaking not only for the price but for the style, period. Second, the fit is incredible. I am 5'1 with 13 1/2 inch calves so you can imagine how surprised I was to see that a boot with a 15 inch shaft and 14 1/2 inch opening fit almost perfectly. They almost look like they could be custom. Third, they are versatile. You can wear them tall or scrunched down to the calf. Neither look is better than the other, they both look great. Fourth, I love how comfortable they are. I normally have a problem with heels over 3 1/2 inches since I have a little foot and can't handle the arch. Yet these don't bother my feet (can't explain it, they just don't). They DO feel a half size larger than they should, but in my opinion this is a perk. I've worn thicker socks, shoved in padded insoles and STILL they don't feel tight on my feet! Can I reiterate? COMFORTABLE. Overall, I would highly recommend these boots. Comfort is good, but not great, as the toebox is slighlty pointed and the platform adds some stiffness. Not as comfortable as a round toe boot, but the heel height and platform are comfortable enough, and this is not a hard boot to walk in. Not sure why the zipper is there, I'm able to pull mine on and off with ease. My pair had a few very minor imperfections but that can happen with leather.
